Optimization Design of Suspension and Steering System for FSAE Racing Car

The China Formula Student Car Competition has been growing in recent years. In order to improve the steering lightness and body stability of FSAE cars when driving under high-speed multi-curve conditions. This paper constructs a three-dimensional model suspension system through CATIA according requirements race rules, applies ADAMS/Car module simulate with two-wheel isotropic excitation, obtains change curve performance parameters, uses ADAMS/Insight optimize unreasonable parameters analysis results. Based on preliminary optimized system, MATLAB is used trapezoidal mechanism make wheel both sides car more closely match ideal Ackerman geometry relationship. Finally, ANSYS applied finite element important parts ensure that their structure materials can meet whole design.
